There comes a point in every young photographer’s life where she has to make the decision to sell her body.

Mine is a Canon 50D and would look swell around your neck even if you had no desire to take photos with it and only wanted to use it as a large decorative brooch. It’s about a year and a half old and the only reason I’m selling the trusty light painting device is to fund a new one. It’s still in good shape because it’s more important to me than a child and it still has all the goodies that came with it – the original box, manuals, computer software CD’s, USB cable, strap, battery, battery charger, etc.
I also have some other camera paraphernalia such as the ol’ staple 50mm f1.8 lens and a Canon point-and-shoot digital camera (PowerShot SX120 IS) that has hardly ever been taken out of the box.
For more info drop me a line at jodie@jodieponto.com or give me a ring at 250-263-1954.

Some people have velveteen rabbits. Others are afraid velveteen rabbits come pre-soaked in scarlet fever and have velveteen parlours instead.

If you ever find yourself a Christmas orphan I highly recommend collecting as many other Christmas orphans as you possibly can for a gluttonous feast followed by some good old fashioned [costumed] caroling throughout the neighborhood.

As winter’s death grip slowly strangles more and more light out of each day I’m becoming suspicious that the little creatures who reside with us are being affected by seasonal affective disorder even more than I am. How else can you explain the recent rise in mouse suicide rates at our house (this is the second in the past two weeks … you can read about the first one here)? Some may claim we’re encouraging the SAD varmints’ sorrowful spiral into suicide by carelessly leaving implements of death lying all around the house. However, I would argue (as demonstrated by the photo below) that we are taking active suicide prevention measures and if the little mice are truly that miserable they have the right to end their own lives if they so choose.

Oh, do I ever have a heart-on for the Ymir Schoolhouse! It’s intimate like a house concert, but infused with a quirkiness that only small towns like Ymir can exude.
Speaking of quirky, I also have a heart-on for Toronto’s Bahamas, who coincidentally played at the schoolhouse last night. Bahamas is a moniker for the songs and music of Afie Jurvanen, and even more impressive than accolades such as a JUNO nomination is his ability to rock out in a wool Christmas sweater while simultaneously fending of an aggressively lusty front row girl-gang.

As some of you may know, Miss Quincy and her left-hand man Tyler Toews will be heading across the Atlantic this winter for a tour of the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany. Recently we got down to some Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong and shot some tour promo photos.

Perhaps my favorite part of any photoshoot is stumbling upon little outtake gems when sorting through the shots.
The random outtake debris below is from a recent photoshoot for Miss Quincy’s upcoming tour of the UK, the Netherlands, and Germany.
To see photos that made it off the cutting room floor (and where Miss Quincy managed to keep her dress on) click here.
