A few excerpts from the Trout Forest Music Festival in Ear Falls, ON … Or, as we like to call it, Fredstival (after Fred Penner, who was without a doubt the highlight of the weekend).

Miss Quincy & The Showdown at the Trout Forest tavern.

Although Miss Quincy & The Showdown may have mean reputations, nothing can reduce them to a gaggle of giggling 6 year old girls faster than hanging out with Fred Penner for the weekend.

Poor Choices Christmas card shot with Andrew Neville.

Ross Roeck, King of Hospitality & Master of Midnight Pulled Pork.

Jonathan Byrd and Corin Raymond, 2 of this continent’s greatest songwriters, rehearse for their set.

Shari grows a horn (or drinks a viking festival goblet beer).

I can’t even begin to express how wonderful the firstival weekend at Sweetwater 905 music & arts festival on the Mattson’s farm in Rolla, BC was (June 15-17, 2012). Here are some pictures instead:

Yes, it’s true. I spent the weekend at my favorite festival in the galaxy surrounded by some of my favorite musicians in the galaxy and took a grand total of 1 photograph. Maybe it was Mother Nature’s rainy tantrums that encouraged the lack of camera activity. Or maybe my camera was end-of-tour tired and wanted to spend the weekend like a fancy free festival-goer.
In any case, here is the official last photo of this year’s Summer Tourcation – Miss Quincy, Hannah Layhe, and Shari Rae rehearsing in Camp Vacant Lot before their set at ArtsWells.

Once upon the longest day of the year, Miss Quincy hijacked the unplugged SOULstice gathering (in Winlaw, BC) by cleverly commandeering an inverter & chain of 4 car batteries and getting an impromptu all electric dance party on in front of her trailer.

It’s Saturday night and around me hundreds of people are visiting & laughing & drinking & dancing and I could just as easily be in the Wells Community Hall during ArtsWells as in Vancouver’s Rickshaw Theatre for Ambiguous Arts’ one night ArtsWells fund-raising extravaganza.
ArtsWells is one of the greatest festivals in the galaxy and if you haven’t already been make sure to get yourself there one of these years!!
