In honour of Miss Quincy’s upcoming 2012 UK tour (which I’ll once again be along for, stay tuned for dates to be announced soon), here are is a formerly (f)unreleased video from the 2011 UK tour featuring Mister Quincy.
If you don’t know who the hell Mister Quincy is, click here.
Today I have a sneak video peak as they rehearse for their upcoming 6 month tour across Canada, the UK, and Europe (Yes, I’ll be along for the whole ride too). The ladies have been rehearsing right on top of a downtown Vancouver storage warehouse (Yes, it’s the same place where The Storeroom Soiree was held).
Once upon day four of recording Miss Quincy’s new album Like The Devil Does I took my trusty digital SLR to the videographer level for the first time ever. That is, I did everything you see in this video besides play the music.
Without further ado – Miss Quincy, Suzie Rae (bass) and Thom Moon (drums) recording Hurricane live off the floor at Rocky Mountain Recording Studio in Calgary, AB:
I’m currently drinking a celebratory beer because all the bed tracks on Miss Quincy’s new album are officially done … Meaning we all get a couple days off, and more importantly, the recording now has some proper legs to stand on.
Here’s a video clip of today’s final bed track, Dawson City Line, a tribute to the good time girls of the Klondike Gold Rush that Miss Q wrote while working in the Yukon wilds.
Recording dials & doodads & thingamajigs that I couldn’t tell you the real name and purpose of.
The Granddaddy of Groove – Mr. Thom Moon.
The Mistress of the Low End – Suzie Rae.

Us ladies listening back to 10 tracks of down & dirty roots & blues.
I haven’t heard much of a peep from Mister Quincy and his right-hand lady Righty since our paths crossed in the UK last spring (I was on the Euro road with Miss Quincy and her left-hand man Tyler “Lefty” Toews and the dastardly duo just happened to be on tour at the same time promoting Mister Q’s last effort Your Daddy Don’t Like Me).
It turns out Mister Quincy and Righty have been busy in the studio recording Mister Q’s brand new effort Your Daddy Don’t Like Me Like The Devil Does. They recently asked me to do the promo photos for the upcoming album’s release and tour. Here’s a sneak peak:
The studio was reunion central today as old pals stopped by, including former left-hand man Tyler Toews & harmony wizard Alyssa Jean, for a live-off-the-floor recording of Carmen (a Miss Quincy favorite from their days on the road together).
I’m not going to lie, it was tough to tear myself away from the snack platter long enough to take a few photos and video of the first day of recording of Miss Quincy’s new album Like The Devil Does (at Rocky Mountain Recording Studio in Calgary, AB).
Miss Quincy discovering the line “whoring is a sin” has been added to one of her song lyric sheets.
Click on the panorama for a closer look at the studio.

Once upon a cold-snap last winter Miss Quincy holed up in her cabin with a bunch of other hooligans and made a new album (“Your Mama Don’t Like Me“). Featured in the video below are Ben Nixon (Mossy Rock Productions), Reno Fitch (Folky Strum Strum), and Peter Mynett (Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra). I documented the recording sessions with my handy-dandy still camera too – if you have a hankering to view those photos click here.
