Perhaps it’s fitting that the only man who appears on Miss Quincy & The Showdown’s new record is playing the organ. Here are a few photos of the man in question, Tom Heuckendorff, tickling the B3 at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver.

I spent yesterday afternoon lounging on the control booth couch at Neighbourhood Studios while producer Matt Rogers, Miss Quincy, and her pipes of steel laid down an album’s worth of vocal tracks.

Whether or not it was a good idea to hit the studio less than 24 hours after landing in Canada just off a 7 week European tour is yet to be seen. Either way, here are a few jet-lagged photos of Miss Quincy & The Showdown recording album number 3 at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, BC.
Fun with analogue – laying down bed tracks to tape.

St. What’s Basilica? Leaning Tower of Where? Anne Who’s House? Spending 4 weeks getting intimate & interactive with the rest stops, service stations, driving conditions, and road rules of Europe was not exactly what my 18 year old self had in mind when she first set out across the Atlantic all those years ago with her Mountain Equipment Co-op backpack, Eurorail pass, and quick-dry travel pants.
This is what the Autobahn, Autosnelweg, Autoroute, and Autostrada look like through the windshield of Miss Quincy & The Showdown‘s English rental van:

Last week I took some new press photos of Miss Quincy & The Showdown in Rivoli, Italy at Maison Musique — a 100 year old slaughterhouse turned music venue.

After 3 weeks in England it feels good to be in a place that knows how to rock n’ roll (Germany, that is). Here are a few photos of Miss Quincy & The Showdown getting hot & sweaty at Das Greif in Lunen.

While in England I didn’t fondle the crown jewels at the Tower of London, watch Will and Kate parade their baby bump around Windsor Castle, hear Big Ben ring at noon, see the sunrise at Stonehenge (although I did have quite the adventure there 2 years ago), attend a church service at Westminster Abbey, see the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace, or have tea the Queen …. So don’t even bother asking.
What I did see in the past 3 weeks was more miles of motorways, A roads, B roads, and teeny tiny country roads than the average Brit has seen in their entire life. Here’s what the UK looks like through the windshield of a big power-hogging right hand drive Vanny.

Miss Quincy & The Showdown sharing the stage with the ghosts of Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel at The Malt Cross in Nottingham – an old Victorian Music Hall built in 1877 with a stage tall enough to accommodate the sight-lines of a top hat wearing crowd.
